Last night Kwesta once again proved himself as one of the boldest of the Hip Hop lot, when he dropped four new music videos at an impromtu Drop Party he hosted at the Sound Room in Joburg. (Remember when Rap Lyf Records kicked of the year with four new hit singles on the same day at the same time by its signed artists, Kwesta, Kid X, TLT and Makwa6eats?) Well, these four came together to surprise 20 hand-picked fans and media with exclusive music videos of the tracks and topped each off with a live performance! Words: Nadine Oosthuizen

Off course the exclusive event also attracted industry A-listers such as Riky Rick, Yanga, Heavy K, Ms Cosmo, Butle, K2 and Mobi Dixon, to name a few.

First to premier was TLT’s Nice Life Problems, a unique fusion of Hip Hop, Mbaqanga and African Jazz elements. Kwesta’s Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe ft Thabsie followed which, together with Thabsie’s soulful vocal melodies, revealed a captivating emotional side of Kwesta. The video will be released to the public on February 24th on Vevo along with Mfazi We Phepha the latest offering by Kid X ft Nota, Mashabuqe & Yanga.

As if the night wasn’t already on fire, the four took it to the next level when they all came together to perform Makwa 6eats’ already chart topping single iNambaproving Makwa 6eats’ to be more than a producer by rapping alongside label mates Kwesta, Kid X and TLT.

“This premiere was a challenge I set for myself – to release a collection of music that was out-of-the box and could create unforgettable moments. I’m proud of these videos and that I got an opportunity to put a spin on things by collaborating with my friends. Hopefully this will encourage other people to do the same and so create their own memorable moments,” said Kwesta.

Topping the whole night off, Kwesta also revealed himself as the first of five brave and authentic artists who were hand-picked to join the Red Heart Rum Crew, all to be announced this Monday, February 20th.
