A Trio of Trailers

As the year draws to a close Hollywood enters its final money-making stretch with the release of several blockbuster films to coincide with the holiday season. Here are three such films that studios are hoping will break the bank in December and beyond.

Justice League

The world’s preeminent superhero team (if you’re not a Marvel fan), The Justice League, flexes their collective muscle as they fend off an alien invasion that threatens to destroy the Earth. Wonder Woman, Batman, Cyborg, Aquaman, The Flash and Lois Lane’s memory of Superman are all squeezed into in this action-packed yet light-hearted three and a half minute trailer. As is the case with most things in life it’s better to show than to tell, so take a look for yourself below. Justice League releases November 16

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

This edition of CSA Global may have been misnamed as this week sees news from a galaxy far far away. The latest instalment of the fifth highest grossing film franchise of all time, Star Wars, has just released the first official trailer for the hotly anticipated The Last Jedi. After making a brief appearance at the end of the last film, The Force Awakens, die-hard fans and casual observers alike will be eager to see what becomes of Luke Skywalker in what we assume is his final appearance, (ahem, Last Jedi), in the storied franchise. X wing fighters, lightsaber duals and familial betrayals are just the beginning. The Last Jedi releases in theatres worldwide 13 December.

Pacific Rim Uprising

Everyone loves giant robots – an undeniable fact. With that said, the prospect of a sequel to 2013’s Pacific Rim is something we relish with great joy. Pacific Rim: Uprising is such a sequel and it promises to deliver bigger monsters and indeed bigger robots all banding together to save our beloved earth from a horde of otherworldly monsters hell-bent on destroying our home – It’s going to be big, it’s gonna be loud, and wouldn’t have it any other way. pacific Rim Uprising releases on February 22

Models Give Back

Victoria’s Secret model and activist Toni Garrn has launched the latest initiative to benefit her Toni Garrn Foundation – a charity that supports female empowerment by supporting, advocating, and advancing the rights of girls and their education. With her Supermodel Flea Market, the model is enlisting the help of her genetically gifted friends to raise money for her foundation. The charity sale, in collaboration with luxury e-retailer, Vestiaire Collective, aims to take the New York pop global for the first time – “Now anyone can participate and own a piece from their favourite model’s closet while doing something good at the same time!” said Garrn. Vestiaire will be hosting the online market and a series of pop-ups in Berlin, Paris, and London – Models like Kate Upton, Giselle Bundchen and Naomi Campell have all donated items ranging from a signed denim jacket to Prada shoes. Garrn, who will be working the three day pop-up in London told Vogue “It will be great to talk to shoppers and explain to them where the money is going. By buying a jumper from Jourdan Dunn, or a pair of shoes from Kate Upton, they will be helping keep girls in Africa in school.”

From models doing good to models doing the most, we close out this week’s edition of Global with some celebratory news from one of the internets’ favourite faces, Bella Hadid.

Bella Hadid turns 21

Bella Hadid celebrated her 21st birthday on Monday night in New York. Unsurprisingly the event brought out some big names and was bankrolled by one of her famous friends – Drake. After an intimate family dinner with her sister and parents, Bella headed to New York private club, Socialista Lounge, where the Toronto rapper threw Bella a lavish party attended by Travis Scott and Martin Garrix to name a few. Having been friends for years (even before either of them were famous) the gesture is not as unlikely as you would think, but a big deal nonetheless. Happy Birthday, Bella!
