With Cape Town’s annual Design Indaba once again offering a stellar line-up of speakers, cutting-edge creative work, exhibitions, talks, music performances and film screenings there were no shortage of passion, inspiration, and innovation! What really caught our attention was the category “Emerging Artists” featuring the best up and coming creatives Africa has to offer. From a selection of 40 immensely talented individuals, we narrowed it down to our top 10 favourites.

Kgotso Letwaba
An athlete at heart and fashion designer in training, Kgotso Letwaba is passionate about creating stylish sportswear with inspiration rooted in street art and pop culture, which he distributes under his label The After Skool Life.
Lungile Mbokane
Drawing from his position as a young black artist living in SA, Lungile Mbokane shares his personal stories through his colourful illustrations.
Mario Nobrega
Mario Nobrega creates intriguing, surreal illustrations that blend photographic images and graphic design.
Keya Murphy  
Keya Murphy aka Jack Fox’s street art and illustrative artworks are subdued in black & white with intricate details and surrealistic elements.
Goodwill Mokoka
Goodwill Mokoka is a visual artist who specialises in the design of small toys. His pop art-inspired drawings are turned into reality at his start-up company Taki Originals.
Mellaney Ruiters
Mellaney Ruiters is a Fine Arts student with an affection for one of a kind ceramics with bold, contrasting colours and organic lines.
Fatima Mohammed Bhama 
As a graphic designer with a passion for typographic layout and editorial design Fatima creates her own visual language.
Karabo Masombuka
Karabo Masombuka is a product and furniture designer that creates textile-based furniture for outdoor and modest living spaces with her start-up brand, Design On Textile.
Ashlee Ainsley Lloyd
Ashlee Ainsley Lloyd is a student of industrial design with a passion for inspiring conversations between people through her tactile work. Lloyd attempts to blend artisanal craft and industrial design by merging intricately woven textiles with machined industrial materials and woodcraft.
Sibusiso Nkosi
Sibusiso Nkosi is a 20-something visual artist that creates detailed illustrations on the surface of ceramics and miniature sculptures.
