The Nubian Music Festival 2019, held at Hartbeespoort over the long weekend, saw a crowd of over 5000 on their feet to performances by some of South Africa’s A-list artists including Mi Casa, Lira, Amanda Black, Judith Sephuma, The Soil, Thandiswa Mazwai, KB Molopyane on Sunday. DJ Fresh closed out the music night with a fiery set of cool summer hits.

A four-day fusion of food, lifestyle and music, the Nubian Music Festival began on Friday, December 13th lasting through to yesterday’s Bubbly Brunch Boat Cruise at  the Eagle Waters Wildlife Resort on the banks of Hartbeespoort Dam.

Another festival highlight was Friday’s Comedy Night, featuring hysterical sets from top comedians Sammy Fever, Roni Modimola, Thapelo “King Flat” Mametja, Black Jesus along with the only female comedian of the night, Khanyisa Bunu, and comedian and host of the show, Shampoonaiza.

With the goal of promoting social togetherness & cultural tolerance, the festival was abuzz with music, revelers, visitors and families having fun together in a safe, spectacular natural environment with top-class entertainment.

“To see all the smiling faces, young and old, and everyone dancing – from the little kids to the grannies – just filled my heart with joy. This was the best crowd yet at the festival!” said Nubian Music Festival founder, Mpho Mathope.

“I am also very appreciative of our partners who made all of this possible and would like to thank Motsweding FM, Independent Media and the North West department of Arts, Culture, Sports & Recreation for their partnership and assistance. We would also like to thank the people that have been supporting us since the beginning, as well as the people of Botswana who came in their droves to enjoy this special day with us. The Nubian Music Festival looks forward to building on this year’s success with future events.”
