New album from the King of Afrobeats invites you to get “Stress Free”
- New album drop from D’Banj
- From Inspiration to the Vibe
- Stand out tracks
- New video is pure D’Banj
The much-anticipated new album by the King of Afrobeats, D’Banj arrives just in time to set the 2021 African summer on fire. “Stress Free” is the work of an artist long in the game, but with all the style and polish of a formidable creative talent. Only this time it comes loaded with experimentation and fun.
Heritage and innovation are perfectly matched on this album. “I went back to legacy – which is why I got Egypt 80 (led by Seun Kuti) on all seven tracks – and then eased into a realm of zero anxiety after the turbulent period that the world has been through. We had a lot of fun in the studio and hopefully this all shows up on the record!” says D’Banj. Production value is high, filled with swagger courtesy of music producer Rexxie.
Stand out tracks are “Stress Free”, a multi-layered fusion of horns, saxophones and futuristic synths innovating the genre of Afrobeats. Egypt 80 delivers a surprising seductive warmth with horns on the Afrobeat fusion, “Zombie”, and the Afro-meringue mix of “Welcome To Lagos” as well as the free-wheeling “Stress Free” and “Banga”. Big Vibe” is everything that it says – a big vibe of Amapiano ready to be a pan-Continental dance special and “Avocado”, featuring Burna Boy, is exactly what you want in a collab with D’Banj and more.
The accompanying video for “Stress Free” is pure D’Banj. Directed by Clarence Peters, it’s a whirl wind of fashion, humour, sexiness and non-stop Afrobeats fun.
Stress Free by D’Banj drops 1st October 2021.
