CFDA Fashion Awards don’t disappoint.

The “Oscars of Fashion” were doled out earlier this week by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). The annual ceremony honouring excellence in fashion design brought out the elite from the worlds of fashion and entertainment. Belgium designer, Raf Simmons, was the night’s big winner scooping two awards: Menswear Designer of the Year and Womenswear Designer of the Year – an impressive feat accomplished only once before. Other winners included Rick Owens, who walked away with the Lifetime Achievement Award, cementing his position as an icon of American fashion. The red carpet didn’t disappoint either and some of the season’s hottest looks were on display – inspiring envy and awe. Bella Hadid stunned in a jaw-dropping pink dress designed by her date and frequent Kanye collaborator, Virgil Abloh. We certainly can’t wait for next year.

Balenciaga unveils sock inspired “Ribbed Trainer”.

The latest iteration of the brand’s Speed Trainer has just released and is turning heads with its minimalist design and striking silhouette. The Speed Ribbed Low Trainer is truly something to behold: the nylon/spandex upper is ribbed and form fitting. Other features include the memory foam technology embedded in the sole as well as shock absorption. Despite the luxury heritage of the shoe all the features combine to create extremely functional footwear – athleisure at its finest. The design and the brand will no doubt have hype beasts raving, but the $595 price tag may mean waiting for Christmas before we get our hands on a pair.

Wonder Woman exceeds expectations.

Releasing this past weekend, Wonder Woman has set the record for the highest-grossing opening weekend for a female directed film. Patty Jenkins had previously helmed critical favourites like the Charlize Theron vehicle, Monster, as well as television favourites, Arrested Development and The Killing. The movie marks the heroes’ first appearance as a protagonist but serves as a prequel to the three previous films in the DC Extended Cinematic Universe. The film far outperformed the previous record holder, Fifty Shades of Grey. The film is not only a commercial success but is proving to be a hit with critics and fans alike. Certainly, a must watch for fans of the genre, this movie is proving to have a much wider appeal; we can’t wait to go check it out.

Ariana Grande delivers spectacular performance in moving Manchester Tribute.

U.S. pop sensation Ariana Grande performed an emotional tribute to the victims of last month’s terror attacks in Manchester. The One Love Manchester concert was organised to benefit the families of the victims. The pop princess performed her a medley of original songs as well as a moving rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which has just been released as a single further benefited the families and survivors. The concert was a star-studded affair with acts Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Coldplay (to name a few) sharing the stage and taking a stand against senseless terror. The night has proved a massive success with the broadcast being the most watched television event of the year in Britain attracting 14 million viewers. To commemorate her fans, Ariana and her entourage also got matching worker bee tattoos after the emotional concert Sunday night. The worker bee has been a symbol of the Manchester’s hard working past since the 1800’s.
