The most prestigious red carpet in all of fashion was rolled out for the 2018 Council of Fashion Designers of Amerca awards which took place at the Brooklyn Museum on June 4th. “Insecure” actress Issa Rae played host on a night filled with firsts, and of course, unbelievably good-looking people wearing the worlds best clothing.

In her opening monologue, Rae – the event’s first ever black MC – took a swipe at Kanye West’s controversial remark that 400 years of slavery for African-Americans was a “choice.”
“I’m about as fashionable as Kanye is black. Only when it’s convenient,” she said. “That joke was my choice, just like slavery.”
While Kanye was not in attendance to take the brunt of the host’s joke his wife, Kim Kardashian, was in on hand and became the first-ever recipient of the CFDA Influencer Award. On receiving the award she remarked, jokingly, “I’m kind of shocked that I am winning a fashion award when I am naked most of the time.”

Raf Simons won Womenswear Designer of the Year for Calvin Klein, which was presented to him by Cate Blanchett. Supreme took home Menswear Designer of the Year, presented by Trevor Noah, and Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsentook home the Accessory Designer of the Year award for The Row. Naomi Campbell was named Fashion Icon.
