Hip hop’s hottest teamed up with the queen of gqom for a mindblowing performance
This weekend SA’s award-winning hip-hop artist Kwesta, along with the celebrated queen of gqom, Babes Wodumo WOW’ fans with an exceptionally bold show “The People’s Choice” at ICON in Soweto. Kwesta performed some of his greatest hits including Nomayini, Mayibabo, Ngiaz’fela Ngawe and Ngud, to fully packed crowd, who also saw performances by Kid X, TLT and Makwa 6eats, Heavy K, DJ Sliqe, Vigilante, Just Mo and Trallavele.
Earlier this year Kwesta was selected as a member of the Red Heart crew along with other outstanding talents such as Falko One, Jean-Marc Johannes, Breyton Paulse and Fixin Diaries – who all took part in a series of challenges in which they showed South Africans what is means to #LIVEWITHHEART and rallied them to do the same.
Kwesta’s Red Heart challenge was to create a new track with a catchy beat and hook, using three words pulled from a hat as his inspiration – to ‘put his spin on it’. What followed was a fun track featuring the words gymnastics, Soweto and 10-pin bowling. Kwesta lived up to his reputation of putting his own spin on things!
