Sol-Sol set to launch Levi collaboration

Your favourite local streetwear brand  Sol-Sol teams up with Levi’s for latest collaboration. The collection is a reinterpretation of three pieces. Leading the way are a pair of trucker jackets incorporating Sol-Sol’s now iconic brand ethos “Destroy Today” followed by the Levi’s 501’s. The collaboration comes hot off the heals of Levi’s Supreme collaboration which puts Sol-Sol in some very elite company. 2017 has been a banner year for the brand as they continued their partnership with Woolworths and launched their flagship store – Orphan Street Clothing Shop. Now, with this latest collab, a beloved South African brand moves closer into the global spotlight. The collection is available online and in-store starting November 29 at Cape Town’s Corner Store — as well as its e-store — and Johannesburg’s Dipstreet retailer.

Miss South Africa wins Miss Universe

Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, has just been crowned the 66th Miss Universe at the Planet Hollywood Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our girl Demi cruised through the initial rounds to beat out 92 other contestants including Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett and Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez who took the second runner-up and runner-up positions respectively. After wowing judges in the preliminary swimwear and evening gown rounds Nel- Peters continued to show that she is the total package and more than deserving of the Miss Universe crown. The Northwestern graduate was announced by host Steve Harvey who made reference to his infamous gaffe in 2015’s competition remarking “Be afraid, be very afraid” after being presented with the name of the winner. No such miscommunication was delivered this time around as Demi sashayed her way into the history books.

Prince Harry Proposes

The British Royal family just became a little bit bigger as Prince Harry announced his engagement to actress and girlfriend, Meghan Markle. After just over a year of dating the pair made their engagement official at the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. Harry told reporters he knew Markle was “the one” from “the very first time we met.” According to the Prince the proposal, the intimate details of which he kept private, was made on a nondescript evening at the couple’s cottage while preparing a roast chicken dinner – nothing ostentatious there. The soon-to-be Duke and Dutchess of Sussex are set to be wed next year in what is sure to be the wedding of the year.

OK GO return with (another) mind-blowing video

In a feat of monumental precision and artistry, typical of the Chicago born LA-based rock band, OK GO has created the latest in an enduring line of unforgettable videos. The visuals for their single “Obsession” made use of 567 printers working in unison to create a kaleidoscopic effect, or more accurately – a kaleidoscopic event. Such a grand statement is deserved only because of the staggering effort and paper (all of which was recycled by the way) that went into the production of the video which took two years to shoot. This video caps an exceptional year for the band who has seen themselves walk away with combined seven Cannes Lions for their previous videos “The One Moment” and “Upside Down & Inside Out“. Obsession is available on the band’s latest album, Hungry Ghosts available now.
