BET Awards

The biggest night in black entertainment brought out the spectacle that we’ve come to expect from the BET Awards. Host Jamie Foxx was in fine comedic form as he kept the proceedings going and included a revival of his iconic In Living Colour Character, Ugly Wanda.

Although our own Distruction Boyz and Cassper Nyovest did not come away with the award for Best International act, we are proud that a fellow African, Davido, scooped the prize.

Where South African acts are concerned, rapper Sjava was awarded the viewers choice Best International Act. With his most recent prize and a feature on the Black Panther Soundtrack, he is clearly having a stellar year.

Happy Birthday Queen B

The carpet was rolled out this past Saturday at Taboo nightclub in Sandton, Johannesburg in celebration of SA’s top media personality, Bonang Matheba’s, 31st birthday.

With a guest list that included names such as Pinky, Lorna Maseko, Jay Badza, Boity Thulo, Rosette Ncwana, Sefiso Hlongwane and Maps Maponyane amongst others. SA’s A-list went all out to share in the celebrations, starting the evening with a toast of Fleur de Courvoisier, Bonang’s signature cocktail, whilst a pink carpet lead them on their way to a VIP area complete with a pink rose flower-wall and countless pink balloons. All in all the event was everything that you expect for SA’s most beloved Queen.
