We’re suckers for rap love song. Few things warm our hearts more than seeing the softer side of some of our favourite MC’s. In “You and I”, featuring Mlindo the vocalist, Riky Rick delivers an ode to his “future wife” in a series of heartfelt bars extolling endless love and we’re totally here for all of it.

A quintessential South African classic gets an update with Muzi’s rework of the Margaret Singana song, “We Are Growing”. The Shaka inspired Afro-Pop favourite has been turned into a certified electronic hit at the hands of one of South Africa’s hottest new talents, Muzi. If 2018 was his coming out then songs like this will surely signal 2019 as the year of his coronation.

If there’s still time to declare a song of the Summer, then our nomination goes to DJ Kaywise & Dj Maphorisa banger, “Alert.” To be honest we weren’t expecting anything less when when we saw DJ Maphorisa’s name on the bill. It’s no wonder he was tapped by Major Lazer for one of 2018’s biggest tracks, the indomitable, “Particula”.
