    A Very Bonang Year

    The two-part special, “A Very Bonang Year” followed SA’s biggest & most loved media personality on her global adventures, giving fans a unique insight into what was Bonang’s most powerful year yet.

    Broadcast on SABC1, part 1 achieved a record-breaking viewership of 1,86 million viewer and 1.3 Billion hashtag impressions for the #A Very Bonang Year. Part two surpassed even that with two million viewers and a further 2.2 Billion hashtag impressions.  City Press signaled “A.V.B.Y.” as Bonang returning to television “on her own terms”. SABC 3 will be presenting a re-run of the special over Xmas.

      The launch of BNG Nectar in a Can

        Ever the pacesetter, Bonang also launched a new offering from the House of BNG: “BNG Nectar”, a pure sparkling wine in a can. Social Media was in a frenzy over speculation that the media personality was launching a collection of bags, as she teased the sophisticated packaging as “the ultimate accessory for summer”. She followed it up soon after with the reveal of the cans in a “La Dolce Vita”-styled short film on Twitter.

        The single serve pure sparkling wine in a can trended on twitter on the day of launch and the first order was a complete sell out within a first week of release.

          Bonang Matheba’s World App on MTN

          Bonang partnered with Africa’s largest telecoms operator, MTN, in the launch of her mobile app, Bonang Matheba’s World. MTN currently services 250 million customers in 21 countries.

          Bonang Matheba’s World on MTN presents an exclusive mix of video, music playlists, curated images and additional Bonang lifestyle-specific content, including behind the scenes footage, events and photoshoots, her personal favorite products, from make-up to hair styling and fashion trends, to select daily affirmations, self-growth, health tips and business advice.

          Ever trend conscious, Queen B is now providing short form content for a growing pan-African fan base eager for more. As such, Bonang Matheba’s World is designed to deliver exclusive short form content to her subscriber fans and will eventually be available across MTN’s full service area.

          Bonang wins the Woman of the Year Award at GQ’s Men of the Year Awards Ceremony

          Men Of The Year – or “MOTY” as the Awards are affectionately known by GQ’s magazine’s editorial team – is one of South Africa’s most prestigious awards ceremonies, recognizing the men and women who shape our cultural landscape, as well as “the most intelligent and inspiring people of the year”. “Despite it being a pandemic, Bonang has had a strong year as a businesswoman, entertainer and an all-round woman who has inspired all of us throughout 2020,” said Molife Kumona, Editor in Chief for GQ South Africa.

          Bonang was in fact the first South African woman to front the stand-alone cover of GQ South Africa for their “Power Issue” in 2018.
